The Heritage Nursing Home long-term care facility in downtown Toronto Our Mission

One of the main reasons individuals choose to live in a Long Term Care is for their personal safety and security.

For resident safety at the Heritage Nursing Home, we provide a bedside and washroom, pull-cord activated nurse-call system so our staff can respond rapidly to resident needs.

Fire safety is taken very seriously at the Heritage. The home is equipped with a state-of-the-art, 2-stage fire alarm system connected to smoke and heat detectors in all resident rooms. In addition there are extinguishers and fire hoses on all floors, and emergency back-up power and lighting for these systems in case of power loss.

In our kitchen, a special cooking range fire safety system is installed for additional fire safety and security.

The Heritage is in compliance at all times with all the provisions of the Ontario Fire Code, and our Emergency Fire Safety Plan is regularly reviewed, and approved by the Ontario Fire Marshall.

Regular monthly system testing and drills are conducted on all shifts to ensure ongoing compliance and staff alertness.

And finally we practice our evacuation plan and other emergency procedures periodically according to government and regulatory requirements.
